Can a Bounce House Go on Concrete? Yes — Here's What You Need to Know

One of the most common questions we get at The Dunk Tank Company is whether bounce houses can be set up on concrete or pavement. The short answer is yes — with the right precautions. Here's everything you need to know.

Is Concrete Safe for Bounce Houses?

Yes, concrete and pavement are viable surfaces for bounce house setups. Commercial-grade inflatables like ours are designed for use on multiple surfaces including grass, asphalt, concrete, and gym floors. The key difference is how we anchor the unit.

How We Anchor on Concrete

On grass, we use ground stakes driven into the soil for a secure hold. On concrete or pavement, we use sandbags or weighted anchor systems to secure the inflatable safely. This is standard practice for parking lots, driveways, gym floors, and paved event spaces.

Things to Consider on Concrete

  • Ground Pad: We place a tarp or ground cover under the inflatable to protect the unit's bottom and provide a slight buffer
  • Footing: Guests should wear socks — barefoot on concrete near the inflatable edges can be uncomfortable
  • Anchoring: Our team handles proper anchoring with sandbags — never attempt to use stakes on concrete
  • Space: Allow extra clearance around the unit since there's no soft ground to absorb any falls near exits
