Can a Bounce House Fit in a Garage? What to Know Before You Book

Thinking about setting up a bounce house inside a garage? It's an interesting idea — especially for Michigan weather — but there are some important factors to consider. Here's the honest answer from The Dunk Tank Company.

The Short Answer: Rarely, But Sometimes

Most standard bounce houses are too large for a typical residential garage. A standard two-car garage is roughly 20x20 feet — and while that sounds big, most bounce houses need at least 15x15 feet of floor space PLUS 15-20 feet of ceiling clearance. Most garages have 8-10 foot ceilings, which simply isn't tall enough for inflatable walls and bounce space.

What Could Work in a Large Space

If you have access to a larger indoor space — a school gym, church fellowship hall, or commercial building with high ceilings — indoor bounce house setups become much more viable. Our Castle Bounce Toddler Unit and 10x10 Bounce Castle have the lowest profile and are most likely to work in tighter indoor spaces with at least 12-14 foot ceilings.

Better Alternatives for Garage Parties

If garage space is your primary option, consider these alternatives that work in smaller, lower-ceiling spaces:

  • Games — Giant Connect 4, Skeeball, Corn Hole, and other yard games work great in large garages
  • Concessions — A cotton candy or popcorn station is a perfect garage party addition
  • Event Staff — Have our team help run activities in whatever space you have
