Cornhole

Game Rules and Guidelines

Setup:

• Boards: Position two regulation boards, each measuring 2 feet by 4 feet, with a 6-inch diameter hole centered 9 inches from the top. Place them on a flat surface, 27 feet apart from front edge to front edge.

• Bags: Use two sets of four bags, each weighing between 15.5 to 16.5 ounces and measuring 6 inches by 6 inches. Each set should be a different color for team distinction.

Teams:

• Singles: Two players compete against each other.

• Doubles: Two teams of two players each. Teammates stand at opposite boards on the same side.

Gameplay:

1. Starting the Game:

   • Decide which team throws first through a coin toss or similar method.

2. Throwing Bags:

   • Players must throw from within the pitcher's box, which is the area to the left or right of the board, without crossing the foul line at the front edge of the board.
   • Players alternate throws until all eight bags are tossed, completing an inning.

3. Scoring:

   • A bag that goes through the hole: 3 points.
   • A bag that lands and remains on the board: 1 point.
   • A bag touching the ground or hanging off the board without touching the ground scores 0 points and should be removed before the next throw.
   • Only one team scores per inning, with points calculated by the difference between team totals (cancellation scoring). For example, if Team A scores 7 points and Team B scores 5, Team A earns 2 points for that inning.

4. Winning the Game:

   • The game continues until a team reaches or exceeds 21 points at the end of an inning.
   • Some variations require a team to land exactly on 21 points to win; exceeding 21 may result in penalties, such as dropping to a lower score.

Additional Rules:

• Foul Bags: Bags that are thrown from outside the pitcher's box, cross the foul line, or land out of bounds are considered fouls and do not score points.

• Pitching Rotation: The team that scores in an inning throws first in the next inning. If neither team scores, the order remains the same.
